Bravo's group stripped
ICC Iligan, Munai, Lanao del Norte (10 October) -- In a report reaching the Advance Command Post (ACP) of the 104th Infantry Brigade, elements of 32nd Infantry Battalion recently engaged a band of the Lawless MILF Group (LMG) under Lumundaya Mabuntal aka Topsider in the early morning of 8 October at Barangay Maliwanag, Poona Piagapo of Lanao del Norte.
Col. Benie De Leon said that while no casualties on the government forces, a number of injuries inflicted on the enemies of the state as evidenced by blood stains spread all over in the encounter site.
Recovered on the scene were freshly laundered MILF uniforms marked with "Topsider" and "Double Body", the alias and radio call sign of lawless MILF commander Mabuntal. Also recovered were explosive components, and vital documents.
Armed lawless MILF leader, Mabuntal or Topsider, is the most trusted henchman of Abdullah Macapaar aka Bravo, responsible for the series of bombings of TRANSCO power line towers in Lanao Del Norte.
In a separate tracking operations, the 10th Infantry Battalion under the 104th Infantry Brigade, recovered home-made shotguns and various communications equipment in a shelter, believed to be abandoned by the lawless groups upon seeing military operatives nearing them at Barangay Tamparan of Munai, Lanao Norte.
Colonel Benito T. de Leon, Commander of 104th Infantry Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, Philippine Army said that one of his operative units is now based at Barangay Cadulawan, Munai, Lanao del Norte, the gateway to Camp Bilal Complex, the area once controlled by Bravo's group, making the government security forces closer to the enemy of the state.
"With the military operatives now using the former campsites of the 102nd based command of lawless MILF commander Bravo, law enforcement activities of the military couple with the series of engagements had steadily stripped the LMG of resting places, armaments and logistics, thus crippling them from making more atrocities against the peace loving residence of Lanao Norte and nearby provinces" Col. De Leon assessed. (PIA-MMIO) [top]
