GenSan celebrates e-Business Week without hitch
General Santos City (28 October) -- Despite the prevailing security threats in other parts of Central Mindanao, the celebration of e-Business Week here pushed through without hitch.
City Councilor Meg Santos, who represented Mayor Pedro B. Acharon, Jr., stressed in her message that GenSan is the leading ICT center in the region aside from being the tuna capital of the country.
She pointed out that the weeklong celebration aims to highlight Information Communication Technology or ICT, its services and benefits such as employment generation.
Santos also emphasized that ICT is a tool for global competitiveness which the city can take advantage of.
Meanwhile, Maya Cartojano, president of ICT Solutions Association of Region 12 (isaXII), said they are also working towards the development of animation and that they are offering scholarship program for this.
She also disclosed other activities of the ICT Week celebration which included the Animation Fundamentals Training Workshop; 1st Philippine Cooperative Teamshop; ICTex 2008 (ICT Exhibit); e-Competition; Tech Talks; 2nd Mindanao Bloggers Summit; e-Jobs Fair 2008; and Investment Forum on Offspring and Outsourcing.
