DAF-ARMM awards goat raising project to 5 Maguindanao coops

Koronadal City (10 November) -- The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries and Regional Agriculture Fishery Council(DAF-ARMM) has awarded approved goat raising projects to five (5) cooperatives in in the autonomous region funded by the (NAFC) National Agriculture Fishery Council (NAFC).under the Livelihood Enhancement for Agriculture Development Phase II Program.

Secretary Keise T. Usman & RAFC Chairman Datu Saleh Mangelen led the awarding of checks to the proponents, witnessed by Provincial Agricultural Officers (PAO) Kiram Angkal of Sharriff Kabunsuan and Maguindanao respectively and other stakeholders.

The five recipients of the Goat Raising Project amounting to P103, 995.00 each include the Upper Siling Farmers Multi_Purpose Cooperative (MPC) of Buluan, Maguindanao; Kagkalimuwa MPC of Brgy. Idtig, Paglat, Maguindanao; Barrio Muslim MPC of Poblacion Buluan, Maguindanao; Amsa'al Farmers MPC of Datu Abdullah Sangki, Maguindanao; and B! to Bz Farmers Association of Borongotan, Upi, Maguindanao.

RAFC chair Saleh Mangelen stressed that the total project cost is P519, 975.00 funded by the NAFC aimed at strengthening the production aspect of the Halal Industry in ARMM.

Cooperatives chairmen Kanando Makalay of Upper Siling MPC, Naque Amad of Kagkalimowa MPC and Myrna Lou C. De Vera of B1 to Bz Farmers Association jointly expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the government through the agriculture department for the opportunity to improve economic condition of small farmers in the rural areas.

Secretary Usman advised the beneficiaries to properly implement and manage the livelihood assistance projects that will boost their socio-economic condition through the production of halal goat meat in the region. (RICC/PIA 12) [top]
