Focused workshops, plenary sessions up at national educators' congress

Iloilo City (25 November) -- Focused workshops and plenary sessions will be conducted to more than a thousand key officials in the public and private basic education system in the forthcoming 2008 National Educators' Congress on December 2-4, 2008.
The Department of Education (DepEd) press report disclosed that the focused workshops and plenary sessions will be conducted by the top management experts from the Asian Institute of Management and the academe for the aforesaid participants at the Teachers Camp in Baguio City, to further sharpen their management tools and professional skills.
"Through this Congress, we expect to further revitalize the drive and energize the competencies of Deped leadership as they plan and implement key projects that will lead to improved basic education," Education Secretary Jesli Lapus said.
The topics to be discussed during this activity are Redesigning Organizational Management, Education Governance for the 21st Century, Organizational Ethics, Reaching the Unreached and Creating and Sustaining Superior Performance.
The event also aims to enhance existing programs and build new interventions geared in achieving universal education, promoting gender equality and women empowermen, as contained in the United Nations-led Millennium Development Goals 2 and 3, respectively.
The DepEd press report also disclosed that the DepeEd central officd heads includingh undersecretaries, assistant secretaries, chiefs, assistant chiefs and directors will attend the event. Also, 170 regional and 760 division participants will share their outstanding programs that address the UNESCO-spearheaded Education For All (EFA) goals and targets.
EFA aims to meet the learning needs of all children, youth and adults by 2015.
