Soldiers join "Run for a Cause"

Panacan, Davao City (9 June) -- Soldiers from the 10th Infantry Division participated in a benefit run in one early Sunday (June 7, 2009) for the orphaned children of a former grade school teacher who died after undergoing brain surgery.

The benefit run dubbed as "Knight Run sa Buntag" organized by the Ateneo de Davao Alumni Runners for a Cause was originally set to generate fund for the surgery of said school teacher who has been in and out of comma.

In a statement of support, Major General Reynaldo Mapagu, the Commander of 10ID said "It is the duty of every soldier to help those in need especially the children."

"The term'knight' befits your soldiers who may not always come in shining armor but sometimes in jogging shorts and running shoes and sometimes in rescue uniforms. In whatever attire your soldiers' maybe, one thing is sure, they are ever present to help and serve you," Mapagu added. (10th ID) [top]
