Lagawe, Ifugao (17 October) -- The provincial government here will give donations to typhoon victims in neighboring provinces in the Cordillera who were hardly hit by the recent typhoon Pepeng.
Governor Teddy Baguilat Jr. said that the provincial government will donate P100,000.00 worth of rice and other food commodities each to Mt. Province, Benguet and Baguio City. The said areas incurred many casualties and big damages to agriculture and infrastructure.
Baguilat added that aside from these food stuff, the provincial government employees donated clothings and utensils for the victims.
"The point here is we help our fellow Cordillerans especially in times like this because they also help our people who migrated in their provinces when they need assistance," Baguilat said.
Baguilat said that the amount comes from the calamity funds of the province and the said donation was taken up during the Executive Committee (EXECOM) meeting held recently here.
The members of the committee which is composed of heads of offices of the provincial government unanimously agreed to donate to the victims of typhoon Pepeng in Mt. Province, Benguet and Baguio City," Baguilat said.
Provincial Administrator Brenda Saquing said that most of the offices here heeded to the call of giving something to victims of typhoon Pepeng.
The province was spared from the wrath of the said typhoon and incurred only one death in the municipality of Aguinaldo who drowned at the height of typhoon Pepeng. (PIA-Ifugao) [top]
