Ifugao employees render free service to boost OTOP

by Mhars B. Lihgawon

Aguinaldo, Ifugao (1 May) -- In support to the economic program of the municipal government, all employees are urged to render free service to boost the implementation and promotion of the One Town One Product (OTOP) here.

In his executive order, Mayor Delfin B. Bullan mandated all officials and regular employees to render overtime manual free service during none working days to support the OTOP of the municipality.

"In order to come-up with an outlined output, every official or employee has to render a little sacrifice during Saturdays and holidays as the need arises by extending manual labor aside from office functions on regular," Bullan said.

The Local Government Unit (LGU) has chosen banana as its OTOP pursuant to the 10 Point Agenda of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo which aims to promote entrepreneurship and job creation.

Bullan stressed that banana was identified as the OTOP since it has a competitive advantage on the basis of its strength, availability of raw materials supply and the local talents and skills of the people to produce for market purposes.

Meanwhile, farmers affected by the dry spell here will receive assistance from the municipal government through seed distribution.

Robert Changwayan, Agricultural technician, disclosed that the Municipal Agriculture's Office (MAO) will distribute assorted seeds to farmers affected by the long dry spell.

"The free seeds that include vegetables and fruit bearing trees will be given to affected farmers to be ready for the upcoming rainy season", Changwayan said. (PIA-Ifugao) [top]
