Santiago City, Isabela (June 25) -- The Center for Health Development 2 (CHD) encouraged local government units (LGUs) to promote a bloodletting program in their respective localities as it will help them in times of emergencies when blood is needed by patients that were hospitalized.
The CHD personnel has scheduled to visit this city yesterday and urged local leaders here to organize a bloodletting activity together with the City Health Office and encourage barangay residents to donate blood for future use.
Regional Blood Coordinator Ms. Emma Tumaliuan said that there are established bloodbanks for Isabela Northern part which will be in the Cagayan Valley Regional Hospital in Tuguegarao City while in the southern part will be to the Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC), Veterans General Hospital (VRH) in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya or in the Southern Isabela General Hospital in this city.
"It is very important that there are sufficient stocks of blood in blood banks for each LGUs", Tumaliuan said during her advocacy campaign in this city yesterday.
Tumaliuan said whenever there is a need for blood for patients there will be immediately stocks to be used in cases of emergency.
She said the CHD is making rounds of advocacy to all LGUs urging local officials to support the bloodletting program.
The CHD is ready to assist any LGUs who wishes to conduct scheduled bloodletting activities in each LGUs anytime.
With the promotion of the bloodletting program, the CHD also put in place a "Sandugo Award" as a way of encouraging LGUs to support the CHD program. (PIA Isabela) [top]
