BIR honors top taxpayers in Eastern Visayas
Tacloban City (July 13) -- The Bureau of Internal Revenue Regional Office in Region 8 headed by Director Alert Alocilja is scheduled to honor the 2009 Top Taxpayers in Eastern Visayas in fitting ceremonies on July 27, 2010.
The awarding ceremony will highlight the celebration of the Bureau of Internal Revenue's 106th Anniversary of good service to the nation and the government, Director Alocilja disclosed at the Harampang Ha PIA media forum at Gerry's Grill Tacloban, recently.
The Top Taxpayers Award is composed of three categories: the top 3 Individual Taxpayers; Top 3 Corporate Taxpayers; and the Top 3 Local Government Units.
The Top Taxpayers are models in the community worthy of emulation by their fellow taxpayers, Director Alocilja said.
Through this recognition, the BIR also hopes to raise the level of awareness among the Region's taxpayers of their responsibilities and obligations are good citizens of the Region and the country.
By paying the right taxes on time, the taxpayers contribute to nation building and development, Director Alocilja added.
One of the thrusts of BIR is to encourage taxpayers to settle their tax dues correctly and on time.
The good Director said that the BIR's major thrust for this year is to strengthen its Run after Tax Evaders (RATE) program, and to enhance public service through the "Handog Maglingkod Program."
The Awarding Ceremonies for the Top Taxpayers of Eastern Visayas will be conducted after the scheduled caravan.
The BIR in Region 8 has also scheduled on July 27-30 at Robinson's Place Tacloban, an Exhibit which will showcase the BIR's performance. TIN issuances will also be conducted during the exhibit days. (PIA 8) [top]
