Cavite officials prepare for Barangay Assembly

Trece Martires City (9 December) -- Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla and the city/municipal mayors in the province are now preparing in extending assistance to the barangays for the successful holding of Barangay Assembly this coming Saturday, December 11, 2010.
In a memorandum circular released by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Pres. Benigno S. Aquino lll issued Proclamation No. 74 dated November 24, 2010 that "directs the conduct of Barangay Assembly on December 11, 2010 nationwide to enable the new set of barangay officials to meet their constituents and enhance the process of institutionalizing the tenets or transparency, responsiveness, accountability and participation at the barangay level."
All Barangay Captains and Kagawads are enjoined to present the current state of development and financial status of their respective jurisdiction. Also, barangay officials may also undertake other activities they deem appropriate to create awareness and generate participation among residents in the assembly such as tiangge, cultural presentations among others.
Likewise, they are enjoined to prepare posters or banners to be posted or hanged for at least one week before assembly date in at least three conspicuous places, like barangay hall plaza, main streets, etc in their respective areas.
Recitation of "Panunumpa Para sa Mabuting Pamamahala Tungo sa Tuwid na Landas" to reaffirm before their constituents their commitment to promote and uphold barangay good governance, and to manifest their solidarity with the Department's program dubbed "Biyaheng Pinoy: Tapat na Palakad, Bayang Maunlad" to commemorate two decades of local autonomy in the country.
