Quezon City (24 October) -- “A LOT of aberrations” have been noted in the computation by the Professional Regulation Commission on the grades of nursing board examinees, Labor Secretary Arturo Brion said Monday, as he appealed for cooperation among all the parties for a quick resolution of the issue.

In a statement, Brion asked all those involved in the case to focus on the grades and their verification, not on more legal suits that would only further delay closure of the case.

“It saddens me to hear that some groups now want to file damage suits against me. We should instead work together to clarify matters. The examinees should instead turn their attention to the verification of their grades and the PRC computation. We are doing that now and we see a lot of aberrations. We shall in due time make our findings public,” he said.

Brion said that his directive to the PRC to refrain from proceeding with the oath-taking of nurses who passed the June 2006 examination was intended not to delay the oath-taking, but so as not to complicate matters pending the finality of the Court of Appeals decision.

“My objective is for these examinees to move on with their professional lives at the soonest time possible. That is the reason why I also requested the CA justices to consider adopting the mediation and conciliation approach,” he said.
