Oro mayor orders no-entry for eastbound, westbound public utility vehicles in city proper
Cagayan de Oro City (12 October) -- EFFECTIVE immediately, all eastbound and westbound public utility jeepneys and aircon vans will no longer be allowed to enter the city proper to load and unload passengers.
This as City Mayor Constantino G. Jaraula issued Exectuive Order No. CGJ2007-33, ordering the revocation of all issued executive orders that allowed selected PUJs and aircon vans to enter the city proper.
Covered in the latest executive order issued by Mayor Jaraula are eastbound PUJs and aircon vans originating from Villanueva, Tagoloan, Sta. Ana and Bukidnon province passing Ororama Megacenter, Limketkai and Gaisano Mall area, as well as westbound PUJs and aircon vans originating from Gitagum, Alubijid, Opol, Iligan City and Lanao provinces passing Cogon and Carmen Market areas.
In ordering the said public utility vehicles to immediately resume operations as originally designated at the Eastbound and Westbound terminals, Mayor Jaraula said his action was prompted by the numerous complaints from the public transport sector.
Mayor Jaraula said that the move is seen to help decongest traffic in the city and is done in the interest of fairness and justice for all concerned.
"I have always emphasized that the city government should serve the interest of everybody and not only of a selected few because our intention is simply to uphold justice and equality for all regardless of social or economic status," Mayor Jaraula pointed out.
The order was issued by Mayor Jaraula in consultation with Administrator Filipino O. Amoguis of the Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA).
Along this, Mayor Jaraula directed the RTA to strictly enforce the said order and penalize those who will be caught violating it. (Cagayan de Oro City IO/PIA-MisOrOccCam i-Net) [top]
