Kalinga asks solon to fund purchase of garbage truck

TABUK CITY, Kalinga (20 October) -- In support to the waste management and promotion of good health programs of this new city, members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan(SP) asked Congressman Manuel Agyao to allot P2 million for the purchase of two garbage trucks for Barangays Bulanao and Dagupan.

In a resolution authored by Board Member Eduardo Buliyat, it states that the purchase of said trucks 'is imperative for the proper disposal of garbage to prevent the spread of diseases in the municipality'.

It also states that the City of Tabuk which is the show window of the province "is very filthy because of rubbish scattered everywhere in Barangays Bulanao and Dagupan" prompting the SP to seek funding assistance from the office of the congressman to immediately address problem.

As recalled, residents have been clamoring for the regular picking of garbage around town which is hardly addressed due to lack of garbage collecting facility which was aggravated when the garbage truck of Barangay Bulanao broke down sometime last year. (PIA) [top]
