Cagayan de Oro City (18 January) -- The Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) posted a crime solution efficiency rate of 97.18 percent in 2007, the COCPO annual accomplishment report revealed.

Police Chief Inspector Michael John Q. Deloso disclosed in the city police office's annual accomplishment report to City Mayor Constantino G. Jaraula that of the 922 crimes committed last year, a total of 897 crimes were solved.

Deloso said that the said accomplishment has significantly exceeded the 85 percent crime solution efficiency rate goal set by the regional headquarters of the Philippine National Police.

The COCPO report showed that the average monthly crime rate from January to December last year has decreased by 6.16 percent compared to the figures in 2006.

The average monthly crime rate recorded by COCPO in 2007 was 14.61 incidents per 100,000 population compared to the 15.57 crime incidents per 100,000 population noted in 2006.

Last year's crime record indicated that of the 922 crimes reported to the various community police precincts in the city last year, 421 were index crimes while 501 were non-index crimes.

The total number of crimes reported last year showed a decrease of 60 crimes compared to the number of reported crimes in 2006 which reached 982 crime incidence. (Cagayan de Oro City IO/PIA-MisOrOccCam-i-Net) [top]
