by Alma L. Tingcang & Gideon C. Corgue

Pagadian City (9 February) -- In her desire to improve the health and vitality of the youth and to lessen the problem on illegal drugs, Governor Aurora E. Cerilles expressed her support to the Private Schools Athletic Association (PRISAA) meet which is scheduled on February 7-9 at the Pagadian City Sport Complex. The lady executive tendered a fellowship dinner for the PRISAA officials, sports coordinators, coaches, and media practitioners dubbed " A night with the Governor".

"Most of the ruthless crimes which happened in Pagadian and Zamboanga del Sur such as: killings, rape, etc. are drug related. Thus, we need to divert the focus of the youth by encouraging them to actively participate in sports," Governor Cerilles underscored.

Provincial Tourism Officer Anthony Padayhag said, the PRISAA meet helped a lot in boosting the tourism industry in the city. "The two-day stay of delegation officials and athletes from the cities of Zamboanga, Dipolog and Isabela in the city led to the increase of the domestic arrivals and eventually, contribute much to the city's coffers."

Padayhag happily informed the delegations that the Provincial Government through his office, offers free ride to the "Bihaye Na" Site, Provincial Government Center at Barangay Dao, where the participants are given the opportunity to watch the beautiful Agro-Tourism and Heritage Complex (AHC).

It can be recalled that Zamboanga del Sur played host to Wow Philippines 2007, and AHC became the official site of "Biyahe Na", which is now fast becoming a tourist attraction.

City Mayor Samuel S. Co supported also gave his support by way of extending financial assistance and ensuring that participants will have an enjoyable stay in our city.

Among the personalities who attended the affair were Professor Elbert Atilano- PRISAA Regional Executive Director, Dr. Romeo Hofileņa-Pagadian City PRISAA President, Zamboanga City Vice Mayor Manuel Dalipe, local officials, coaches, sports coordinators, and the media. (PIA 9-Pagadian City) [top]
