NFA exec says NVizcaya still in surplus production
BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (February 15) -- This province is still maintaining its classification as a surplus province in terms of rice production and supply, according to an official of the National Food Authority(NFA) here.
Antonio Panganiban, NFA provincial manager said that as of January 2 this year, the province has 365,740 bags of unmilled rice (palay) based on their commercial inventory, household stocks and NFA stocks.
He added that he projected Palay production in February 2008 is 449,040 from 5,865 hectares in the province.
"If we deduct the household consumption, seed requirement, feeds and wastage from this figure, we still have 218.947 bags of palay with 50 kilos each," he explained.
NFA report on the grains industry situation in the province also showed that the total marketable surplus is 595,833 bags of Palay while the projected Palay outflow is 297,917 bags at 40-60 percent of marketable surplus.
The estimated provincial ending inventory in Palay form is 297,917 while there are 193,646 in rice form.
Panganiban said the supply will still last for 53 days as of February this year.
The daily unmilled rice consumption requirement for Nueva Vizcaya is 5,662 bags, 3,680 bags in rice form and 2.66 bags in rice form or 133 kilograms in rice form as per capita consumption. (PIA NVizcaya) [top]
