TF Panay looks into rehab of typhoon Frank's ruin

Roxas City (10 July) -- Task Force Panay head and Presidential Assistant for Western Visayas Raul Banias is overseeing the government's post-disaster rehabilitation efforts in Panay Island areas affected by typhoon "Frank."
The creation of Task Force Panay was announced by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo during the joint Cabinet and National Disaster Coordinating Council (NDCC) meeting at the Iloilo airport in Cabatuan town in Iloilo last July 1.
The task force will ensure a better and more efficient coordination among National and Local Government Units (LGU) and all private companies and individuals who are helping the people of Panay in coping with the tragedy.
Meanwhile, Deputy Presidential Spokesman Anthony Golez said the government has utilized P25 million in relief operations alone since the powerful typhoon hit the country.
The government has P2 billion allocation in calamity funds every year, he noted.
Golez also assured for transparency in the expenditure of the government funds utilized for relief and rehabilitation efforts in the aftermath of the typhoon.
The NDCC has daily reports to ensure transparency with its expenditures, he said. (PIA) [top]
