Butuan Global Foundation feeds malnourished children

by Elmo Montilla

Butuan City (23 July) -- For almost a year now since July 12, 2007 the Butuan City Global Foundation (BGF) a philantrophic association of Butuanons and Agusanons based in the United States of America and Europe presently chaired by a Tal Butuanon Dr. Casimiro Sanchez Garcia now a retired practicing physician of Atlanta, Georgia, USA has been feeding malnourished children of Barangay Ampayon, Butuan City aged two to six years old.

The system employed is that the malnourished children are served with nutritious lunch twice a week every Tuesday and Saturday. Every now and then children are weighed to determine who among them had already gained normal weight according to his or her age bracket.

The child who has gained the right weight is considered graduated from the feeding session and will be replaced with another malnourished child residing in the same barangay.

Aside from the twice a week feeding, every after meal the children are made to take a multi-vitamin syrup provided by the Navarra Family.

And for the whole year of 2006 the Butuan Global Foundation had also been feeding homeless street children that one could see loitering around the vicinity of Gaisano Mall day and night.

Just recently the two grand children of Dr. Garcia, Christopher and Kylie Miller who were in Butuan City for a short vacation after observing the feeding session at Barangay Ampayon has decided that upon their return to Atlanta, Georgia, USA they will continue fund raising to raise enough money to assist the laudable project of the Butuan Global Foundation.
