Ms Lasangre bags Dangal ng Bayan Award

Davao City (23 October) -- Naida G. Lasangre, Instructor II, Lupon School of Fisheries, Lupon, Davao Oriental was conferred the Dangal ng Bayan Award for this year's Search for Outstanding Public Officials and Employees under the Civil Service Commission 's Honor Awards Program (HAP).

Dangal ng Bayan Award is conferred on an individual for performance of extraordinary act or public service and consistent demonstration of exemplary ethical behavior on the basis of his/her observance of the eight (8) norms of behavior provided under Republic Act No. 6713, otherwise known as the " Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees", which are: Commitment to Public Interest, Professionalism, Justness and Sincerity, Political Neutrality, Responsiveness to the Public, Nationalism and Patriotism, Commitment to Democracy, and Simple Living.

Ms Lasangre is being recognized for her outstanding accomplishments/achievements in the fishpond development of her province. Her contribution in the preparation of the Institutional Implementation Plan for Aquaculture — School's Distinctive Area of Competence (DAC) hasten the delivery of the Php 8 million worth of latest Aquaculture cum Processing tools and equipment.

She also headed the Research Team of LSF that conducted a study entitled "Growth and Survival of Bangus in Cage Fed with LSF Formulated Feeds". The initial findings on the study shows that there is remarkable increase in size and weight of bangus fingerlings.

Ms. Lasangre received a trophy designed by the famous artist Napoleon Abueva, a cash award of P100,000.00 and other incentives on September 19, 2008, from President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, at the Rizal Hall, Malacañang Palace, Manila.

The conferment of the three (3) award categories of the Search which are the PAGASA, Lingkod Bayan and the Dangal ng Bayan, aims to recognize the exemplars in public service. The recognition also aims to motivate or inspire government employees to improve the quality of their performance and instill deeper involvement in public service.

This year's Search produced 44 short-listed nominees out of the 186 total entries screened under the Lingkod Bayan, Pagasa and the Dangal ng Bayan award categories. (CSC/PIA XI) [top]
