PNP partners with Philippine Blood Center for nationwide blood-letting
ICC General Santos City (6 November) -- The Philippine National Police will conduct nationwide bloodletting activities in partnership with the Philippine Blood Center (PBC) under the Department of Health National Blood Services Program.
Of the total volume of blood that will be actually donated by the PNP personnel, immediate family members and private individuals, thirty percent of which shall be exclusively used for blood transfusion requirements of PNP personnel, family members and private blood donors and the remaining seventy percent shall be used by the PBC for its blood transfusion programs.
The PNP through PBC aims to help the community in their pursuit for a meaningful program.
PBC has 146 health facilities with blood centers nationwide.
The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was sealed on October 28, 2008 between the PNP and the PBC at the PNP Multi- purpose Center in Camp Crame, Quezon City to be followed by simultaneous actual blood donation activities.
Police Regional Office 12 (PRO 12) through the Regional Police Community Relations Division in coordination with the Center for Health Development for Central Mindanao will conduct a simultaneous regional blood donation activity tentatively scheduled on November 25, 2008.
It will be a continuous year-round voluntary blood donation in the health facilities provided by the PBC, PRO 12 Spokesman PSSupt. Danny Reyes said.
In this way also we will be able to sustain continued blood supply for emergency needs especially the PNP personnel giving priority on casualties of hostilities, their dependents and other individuals in need of such blood, he added. (PRO 12/PIA SarGen) [top]
