Search on for outstanding farmers in Mt. Province

Bontoc, Mt. Province (14 February) -- A Provincial Search for the Outstanding Farmers in the province is scheduled on March 2-20 this year.

Supervising Agriculturist Concepcion Wangdali of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist said entries to this search will be the adjudged outstanding farmers in the municipal search.

Wangdali said Municipal Search for the Outstanding Farmer is scheduled this month, February 2-20 and winning entries per municipality shall be submitted to the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAG).

She said the Provincial Search Committee shall conduct validation on all nominees on March 2-20. The committee will be going to the different municipalities to validate each nominee to determine the Provincial Outstanding Farmer.

Awarding of winners in the search for the outstanding farmer is scheduled on April 6 to coincide with the Techno Gabay Summit, one of the activities in celebration of this year's Lang-ay Festival

Criteria for the Search of the Outstanding Farmer include: Farm Manangement and Technology Practices (50 percent), Diversity of Farming System (15 percent), Farm Productivity and Return on Investment (20 percent), Community Involvement (10 percent), and Number of years in farming (5 percent).
