Vigan City (7 October) -- To maximize the use of Integrated Communication Technology (ICT) in improving the market presence of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the worldwide web, the PhilNits in cooperation with Region 1 Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the North Luzon Growth Quadrangle Area (NLQA) holds the Project Training Enhancement and Competitiveness in Harnessing Innovative Entrepreneurs (TECHIE), it was learned Wednesday.
The Project TECHIE is an independent project that sets itself apart from the other government projects with parallel objectives to enhance competitiveness of SMEs thru technology trainings and global presence thru website promotion of products and services; and to provide skills in electronic promotion of collaterals and to facilitate E-Commerce transactions.
In the 3-day training's Phase 3 on Electronic Brochure/Bulletin held last September 22-24, 2010 at the Tres Kinze Computer Shop, San Fernando City, La Union, a total of 14 SME representatives from La Union finished the training.
During the training the participants were oriented with the following the topics: Introduction to the use of E-Brochure/Bulletin, Understanding How Business Can Benefit from E-Brochure, Creating Your Own E-Brochure and How to Incorporate E-Brochure to existing Business Website.
Through this project, the ICT-for-SME efforts of the PhilNits, DTI and NLGQA are strengthened.
Such efforts only shows that ICT can benefit SMEs in three main ways such as increase productivity in the production process; increase efficiency of internal business operations; and connect SMEs more easily and cheaply to external contacts, whether locally or globally. These all falls under the, e-business. (PIA Ilocos Sur) [top]
