Governor Marcos orders thorough probe on treasurer's gun slaying

Camp BGen Oscar Florendo, La Union (7 October) -- Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos ordered the police and other law enforcement agencies to immediately conduct in-depth investigation on the gun slaying of Adam's town treasurer in Barangay Panzian, Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte last Monday morning to give justice to the victim's family.
Adam's town treasurer Elpidio Sy, a resident of Barangay Panzian, Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, was on his way to office riding his motorcycle at about 6:30AM last Monday when he was ambushed and killed by unidentified suspects along the road near Mabaga Falls of said barangay.
The victim was reported to have sustained seven bullet wounds in the different parts of his body causing his instant death was used in the incident. A 12- guage shotgun, based on the recovered slugs from the victim's body,
In response to the call of Governor Marcos, the Ilocos Norte police office created immediately a Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) "Sy" to conduct a thorough probe on the killing of Sy.
Ilocos Norte police director Senior Superintendent Marlou C. Chan told that organize SITG "Sy" is headed by the provincial police deputy director for operations who will personally supervised the ongoing investigation.
"Investigation teams from the Crime Laboratory Service (particularly Scene of the Crime operatives), the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), and the local police unit were dispatched to the crime scene," Chan said.
"The chiefs of police from Pagudpud, Adams and Bangui police stations also extended support to the investigators as the investigation is ongoing and the initial findings will be issued soon," he added.
According to Chan, the investigators are considering all angles particularly the current victim's work leading to the identification of the suspects and mastermind. (PIA Ilocos Sur) [top]
