NSCB releases "Countryside in Figures: Antique 2007" edition
San Jose, Antique (30 April) -- The National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) announces the release of the book Countryside in Figures (CIF): Antique 2007 Edition. The publication is a compilation of latest available statistics and statistical information about the province of Antique produced by the different government agencies.
Agencies and non-government organizations should have the copy of this publication or at least access this in the National Statistical Coordination Center (NSIC) to get the true picture of Antique, said Director Candido Astrologo, Director of National Statistical Information Center during the launching of satellite center recently.
Antique launched the 1st satellite NSIC in Panay Island recently with Romulo A. Virola, Secretary General of NSCB as guest of honor. NSIC is a one-stop shop in terms of statistical data and publication on various concerns where frontline services and technical assistance is available for researchers, said Juliana O. Cepe, Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator.
CIF: Antique, 2007 Edition includes available indicators group into different sectors namely: governance, family income and expenditures, prices, environment and natural resources, agriculture and agrarian reform, labor and employment, industry, education, vital health and nutrition statistics, tourism, transportation and communication and public order, safety and justice. Basic data and information about the province and municipalities are also included in this edition.
Governor Salvacion Z. Perez encouraged local planners to use the CIF: Antique, 2007 to plan for the development of the province especially interventions on poverty alleviations.
Romulo A. Virola, Secretary General of NSCB in his message during the launching of NSIC emphasized that information is the most important commodity in the country with the advent of information technology. He encouraged the provincial government to continue enriching the data based of the province including barangays for maximum use of statistics. (NSCB/PIA) [top]
