PGMA awards farm inputs to Bayongan farmer beneficiaries
San Miguel, Bohol (12 October) -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will award farm inputs to some 3,500 farmer beneficiaries of Bayongan Dam when she visits here Friday, October 12.
The President's visit will coincide with the commissioning of the P2.3B Bohol Irrigation Project Stage Two (BHIP 2) in Bayongan, San Miguel.
During the program, President Arroyo will turn over 5 farm inputs to the farmers to include: 700,000 tilapia fingerlings for dispersal from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR). Engr. Modesto Membreve, BHIP 2 Project Engineer will receive the Certificate of Tilapia Dispersal from the President.
The Department of Agriculture also commits to conduct Trainings on Rice Techno-Demo and Rice Production, and other inputs like; Rice Seed Subsidy for Hybrid and Certified Seeds, and Flat-Bed Dryers.
Janiel Golosino, President of the Federated Irrigator's Association of BHIP 2 will receive the certificates of commitment. He will represent the 16 Irrigators' Associations covering the towns of Trinidad, San Miguel and Ubay.
Witnessing the activities are Governor Erico Aumentado, Japan Ambassador Makoto Katsura and other Provincial and Local officials.
Aside from the direct benefits from the dam, it also increases agricultural production, provides employment opportunities and other socio-economic benefits. (PIA Bohol) [top]
