Serve your constituents with dedication and zeal, PGMA tells barangay officials
Manila (18 December) -- "Serve your constituents with zeal and dedication as expected from public servants like us."
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo thus urged Monday night (Dec. 17) the officials of the 22 barangays surrounding Malacanang whom she inducted en masse at the Heroes' Hall of the Presidential Palace.
The President's advice to the 198 officials of the Malacanang League of Barangays (MALBAR) was contained in her congratulatory letter to each of the officials from Barangays 634-648, 662, 829-833 and 843.
In the same letter, the President stressed to the newly-elected officials from seven zones (Zones 64, 65, 66, 67, 71, 90 and 92) that "your constituents deserve full access to the best public service and opportunities for growth and development."
President Arroyo also called on the MALBAR group to join her administration in "achieving this goal," thus:
"My administration is focused in bringing the benefits of a strong economy to every Filipino. Our people have earned the right to share in our prosperity as they shared in our sacrifices in the past. I ask you to join me in achieving this goal."
The President administered the oath to the MALBAR group at exactly 8 p.m., and in which oath the MALBAR members all pledged to "keep faith in and uphold at all times the noble objectives of MALBAR, with the end view of furthering the interest of the organization and its member barangays."
After the induction, MALBAR officers led by Angel Murillo (Brgy. 637) turned over to President Arroyo their 2x3-foot black-framed Manifesto of Support.
Signed by all 22 MALBAR barangay chairmen who vowed their unstinting support for the President and her pro-poor programs, the "MALBAR Deklarasyon Ng Paninindigan At Suporta" – states, thus:
"Ilang taon na ang nagdaan nang mailuklok ng mamamayan si Pangulong Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo sa isang 'People Power' at sa pamamagitan ng isang demokratikong halalan noong 2004.
"Sa mga taong ito, ipinamalas ng administrasyon ni Pangulong Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo ang katatagan ng pamumuno, ang pagsulong ng ekonomiya, and muling pagkabuhay ng negosyo, mga pampulitikang reporma at pagbaka sa korapsyon.
"Ngunit sa kabila ng lahat, may mga pampulitikang pwersa na gusto pa ring guluhin ang katiwayasan at kasaganaan na tinatamasa ng sambayanang Pilipino.
"Pero sa gitna ng mga kaliwa't kanang pagbatikos sa kanyang administrasyon, nanatiling nakatutok ang ating Pangulo upang kamtin ang ganap na tagumpay laban sa katiwalian, kahirapan at kagutuman.
"Dahil dito, muli naming ipinahahayag ang aming taos-pusong pasasalamat sa kanyang mga makamahirap na adhikain at ang walang humpay na pagsuporta sa kanyang administrasyon," vowed MALBAR. (OPS) [top]
