Another salary increase for state workers in 2009
Negros Occidental (10 July) -- While the state workers are yet to enjoy the 10 percent compensation adjustments which would take effect this month, another round of salary increases is set for 2009.
Department of Budget and Management Secretary Rolando Andaya Jr. revealed recently that discussions between the department and both houses represented by Senate President Manuel Villar and House Speaker Prospero Nograles were initiated to fast track the wage hike for next year.
Andaya made the revelation when asked about his reaction to the proposals for a P3,000 across-the-board increase in the monthly salary of government workers.
"We are ready with the resolution," added Andaya who explained that the "funding will already be incorporated in the 2009 budget."
In Negros Occidental, the 10 percent increase in the salary of employees of the provincial government will also be implemented after the P11.7 million supplemental budget was approved recently by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan. (PIA/EAD) [top]
