Tagalog News: Pangulo pangunguhan ang International Tourism Forum for Parliamentarians and Local Authorities

Manila (23 October) -- Bibisitahin ngayong araw ng Pangulong Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo ang lalawigan ng Cebu upang pangunahan ang gaganaping International Tourism Forum for Parliamentarians and Local Authorities (ITF-PLA) na bahagi ng pagsisikap ng kanyang administrasyon na maitaguyod ang pagpapa-unlad sa turismo ng bansa.

Ayon sa Department of Tourism (DOT), ang apat na araw na forum na magsisimula ngayong araw at magtatapos sa Sabado (October 25, 2008) ay tatalakay sa mga global issues na may malaking epekto sa industriya ng turismo.

Kabilang sa mga isyung tatalakayin ang climate change, poverty alleviation, peace-building at ang papel na ginagampanan ng mga kababaihan sa turismo, at ang epekto ng nararanasang pagbaba ng ekonomiya ng buong mundo dala ng pagbaba ng ekonomiya ng Estados Unidos.

Tema ng nasabing forum ang "Tourism and the Millennium Development Goals (MDG)" na inorganisa ng DOT at ng Mababang Kapulungan sa pakikipagtulungan ng United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

Ang ITF-PLA ay ginaganap pagkatapos ng dalawang taon kung saan nagtipun-tipon dito ang mga national tourism administrators, legislators at local executives mula sa 157 member countries at mahigit tatlong daang (300) affiliate members mula sa pribadong sektor, educational institutions, tourism associations at local tourism authorities.
