Canvassed returns in Davao del Sur still at 40% as of 3pm

Digos City, Davao del Sur (11 May) -- The Provincial Board of Canvassers has canvassed forty percent of the total election returns in Davao del Sur as of 3:00 pm today.

The first six to complete and transmit election returns came from the municipalities of Sulop, Hagonoy, Padada, Matanao, Magsaysay and Sta. Cruz.

Said municipalities cover 247 precincts, with 179,589 registered voters. In Padada, 12,811 voters were able to cast their votes out of the total 16,815 signifying a 76 percent turn-out.

Sulop has 77% turn-out or 14,793 out of 19,213 voters. In Hagonoy, there was an 80% turn-out of votes, with 22,998 casted votes out of 28,639 registered voters.

Meanwhile, in Matanao, 23,808 casted their votes indicating a 72% of the 32,783 total registered voters.

As of 3 pm, the board of canvassers was still awaiting election returns from Digos City and from eight municipalities namely: Bansalan, Don Marcelino, Jose Abad Santos, Kiblawan, Malalag, Malita, Sarangani and Sta. Maria.

The BOC members of Digos City made a rest from 7:00 am yesterday until noontime and resumed at 1:00 pm on the same day due to the slow transmission. The city has the biggest voting population of 94,216 in the province. (PIA-XI) [top]
