Tacloban City mayor warns erring cops

Tacloban City (3 September) -- Hon. Alfred S. Romuladez, Tacloban City Mayor , speaking before the crowd during the kick-off ceremony of the 13th National Crime Prevention Week held at Plaza Rizal, will initiate measures and programs that will support the anti-crime campaign of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in the city.
According to Mayor Romualdez, this program is timely as the month of September until December is a season where different forms of crime are happening because of the Christmas season, he said.
Mayor Romualdez challenged the Philippine National Police (PNP) to fight all forms of criminality that hamper the peace and order of the city and the region in particular. Logistics and legal support will be extended to those member of the PNP who in their official functions, happens to face legal battle in court because some of unlawful acts committed by individual are rather twisted to the law enforcer.
A Former congressman of the first district of Leyte and the first time Mayor who succeeded the footsteps of his father, Mayor Romualdez cautioned those erring policemen that he will not tolerate the illegal acts perpetrated by this law enforcer. The actions that his office will do, is worst than those criminal. "Law enforcers are supposed to be the role model of the society, they should not be the breaker of their allegiance to the people," he said.
The Mayor in his parting message said that accomplishment should be treasured for a lifetime, whoever you are, wherever you go, in your stay in this world you will say, " Yes I've done the best part of my life".
The 13th National Crime Prevention Week was spearheaded by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM), Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), National Bureau of Investigation, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Philippine Army (PA), Department of Education (DepEd), Philippine Information Agency (PIA), Province of Leyte and City Government of Tacloban and other stakeholders in the government, academe and business sectors.
The National Crime Prevention Week (NCPW) is celebrated annually nationwide pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 461 issued on August 31, 1994 by then President Fidel V. Ramos. (PIA) [top]
