Comval Sportsfest: Red Dragons win mass dance

Davao City (5 December) -- Capitol employees of Compostela Valley took a two-day breather from its usual four-walls to join in various outdoor and indoor games made especially for them. The Provincial Capitol Employees Sportsfest opens on December 3 with a ceremonial lightning of the urn headed by Gov. Arturo Uy and provincial heads and officials.

This is in line with fostering camaraderie and sportsmanship among the employees. "We also want our employees to be physically active and have a healthy lifestyle so we allot every year as the Provincial Employees Sportsfest," said Gov. Uy.

The opening day highlights the mass dance competition with all provincial offices divided into 4 teams: Red Dragon composed of the Governor's, General Services and Legal Offices; Orange Warriors with the Engineer's, Assessor's and Treasurer's Offices, Lightning Yellow with offices from the Planning and Development, Vice-Governor's, SP, Budget, Accounting and Congressional offices; and Fuchsia Rangers composed of Health and Hospitals, Social Welfare and Development Office, and Agriculturist Office.

Garbed in their respective sports attire uniforms, the employees had a great time dancing with gusto despite the heat of the sun. In the end, the Red Dragons emerged winner followed by the Orange Warriors, Lightning Yellow and Fuchsia Savers. Judges are all skilled in the field of music and theater arts: Jun Jamero, Dennis Bautista, and chairman of the board, Dexter Cequiña.

"I don't usually dance but I enjoyed the experience very much. More than the competition, the series of practices brought us together. It was fun and look forward to next year's sportsfest," said Nora Senorio, a PGO employee.

Sporstfest Coordinator Belo Melendres led the oath of sportsmanship. Also present are SP Members Moran Takasan, Ruben Flores, Rogelio Arambala, Ruwel Peter Gonzaga, and Provincial Administrator Virgie Allones. (fem/ids comval) [top]
