We still have time to save Mother Earth, but not all the time — DENR

DAGUPAN CITY (27 April) -- Amidst the threat of global warming and climate change, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) said we still have time to save Mother earth, but not all the time.
DENR Secretary Angelo Reyes made the call to a crowd of leaders, educators, environmentalists and students during the celebration of Earth Day in a simple program Tuesday at the Dagupan City Astrodome.
Reyes said man continues to destroy his habitat by polluting the air, the water and the land and depleting the earth of its natural resources.
“We do not see bees destroying their beehives”, Reyes said. “We do not see birds destroying their nests nor ants destroying their anthills but mankind is destroying his habitat, and yet we continue to claim that we are the wisest creatures on earth.”
The secretary, in expounding the need to care for the environment quoted a bible verse that says: it is not enough that we belong, rather participate. not enough to care but help, not enough to believe but practice and not enough to dream but work.
Reyes enjoined everyone to act now in saving Mother earth to see a nation enjoying and sustaining its natural resources and clean environment. (PIA-Pangasinan) [top]
