6 Capiz lady mayors retain posts

by Jemin B. Guillermo

Roxas City (13 May) -- No strong male political aspirants were able to topple down the six incumbent lady mayors of Capiz during the recently concluded May 10 automated national and local elections.

Overwhelming results for the incumbent lady mayors in Pilar, Panitan, Tapaz, Jamindan, Sigma and Dumalag made them to remain in their respective posts.

Last termer Panitan Mayor Katherine Belo was able to win against Richard Dadivas with nearly 2000 votes edge.

On the other hand, Dumalag mayor Lilia Castro, who is on her second term, won by more than 7,700 against her challenger Julius Salcedo.

The other second termer mayors who won in the recent elections include Ethel Jinon of Jamindan, Rosemarie Gardose of Tapaz, Maria Andaya of Sigma and Rita Lyn Patricio of Pilar towns.

Other lady aspirants in Capiz who won in this first ever automated election in the country are Jane Castro, who won against Roberto Lastimoso as representative in the second congressional district here. (PIA) [top]
