Cebu Chamber to join 33rd Philippine Biz Confab

Cebu City (15 October) -- Officials of the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) led by its President Francis O Monera will participate in the two-day 33rd Philippine Business Conference and Exposition (PBC&E) in Manila, dubbed as the premier business event of the year slated on October 24-26.

Under the theme "ONE.GLOBAL.FILIPINO. Through Public-Private Partnership," this year's PBC&E will showcase the pre-eminent role of the public and private sectors in instituting significant reforms and initiatives to harness the country's competitiveness and promote the growth of industries through investments and other business opportunities.

Ambassador Francis Chua, Special Envoy on Trade and Investment to China, and a member of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Board of Advisers chairs this year's conference.

Gathering hundreds of leaders here and abroad, the 33rd PBC&E is seen as the convergence of brilliant minds and ideas, making it the ideal venue to develop synergies and partnership between government and business.

The conference will feature various topics that aim to provide businessmen from different sectors a keen understanding of important issues related to global competitiveness, market access, value chain development, good governance, and global opportunities for investments emphasizing on joint projects with government.

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will lead the awarding ceremonies on the following: Recognition for Business Leadership, Most Business-Friendly Local Government Unit, Best Workplace RH Policies and Programs, Business Excellence in Ecology and Economy, and the Most Outstanding Chamber Award which shall be conferred to deserving companies and chambers nationwide.

One of the highlights includes the National Competitiveness Summit where the state of the Philippine Global Competitiveness will be discussed.

In 1997, CCCI was bestowed the Hall of Fame Award and this year, the CCCI will once again vie for the title after it was awarded the Most Outstanding Chamber in the Philippines for two consecutive years in 2005 and 2006. (PIA-Cebu/FCR) [top]
