September revenue shortfall isolated setback - Bunye

Manila (18 October) -- Following the release of the report on revenue collection for the 3rd quarter of the year, Malacañang quickly clarified that the failure to reach the target tax payments is an isolated setback.

"The government may have fallen short of its revenue target for September but this is an isolated setback."

So said Press Secretary and Presidential Spokesman Ignacio Bunye while underscoring the fact that the Arroyo administration is taking the matter as a challenge for the revenue collecting agencies to double their efforts in ensuring that the country is back on track in no time at all.

Meanwhile, the Palace official reiterated that President Arroyo's reforms stand firm and the cooperation of the people continues to bolster her economic agenda. (PIA-MMIO) [top]
