Nutrition Council Awardees: Symbols of gov't fight vs hunger -- PGMA
Manila (7 November) -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo cited today the winners of the National Nutrition Council's search for outstanding local government units (LGUs) in nutrition and Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) saying their work best exemplifies the concerted fight against hunger and poverty.
"Marapat lang na purihin natin sila, mga awardees ng ating taong-bayan, para sa masigasig at natatanging pagsisikap ninyo tungo sa lubusang pagsugpo sa gutom at kahirapan. Maraming salamat sa inyo," the President said in her opening statement convening the Anti-Hunger Task Force meeting at the Centennial Hall of the Manila Hotel this morning.
The President took time off from her busy schedule to personally award the 25 LGUs and three BNS chosen by the NNC for their outstanding work in reducing the prevalence of malnutrition in the country.
