DSWD launches "Move In Bicol"

Legazpi City (11 November) -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) field office in Bicol led the launching of Men Opposed to Violence Against Women (MOVE), an organization pursuing advocacy campaigns to prevent and stop incidence of violence against women.
Remia T. Tapispisan, DSWD Bicol regional director, said the agency commends its men employees for initiating such campaign and in pursuing measures to eradicate gender violence and discrimination.
"We are encouraging men to join and be a part of this organization to illustrate that Bicol has violence-free environment, especially among women and children" she added.
MOVE Bicol is an organization of principled men from various sectors of society whose primary goal is advocating on elimination of Violence Against Women (VAW).
For the past two years, MOVE has spearheaded several related advocacy activities, both local and international, initiated capacity-building undertakings, established its organizational structure and internal mechanisms and formulated its plan of action.
Recently, MOVE advocates underwent orientation seminar on RA 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004 as well as elected it new sets of officers.
Elected MOVE Bicol officers include Alfredo Bocato, President; Ranulfo Pasano, Vice-President; Sammy Buenconsejo, Secretary; Renato Millena, Treasurer; Carlos Tolibas, chair on membership committee; Gilberto Logronion on education; Jose Yanto on livelihood; and Antonio Joaquin, Jr. on finance.
