DOTC fields "Oplan Semana Santa"
Manila (25 March) -- THE Department of Transportation and Communications (DoTC) and its attached agencies have beefed up their services for the public this Holy Week.
DoTC public information officer Roland Chicano said that they will implement their annual "Oplan Semana Santa" to aid motorists and the public heading for the provinces during the Holy Week, from March 29 to April 4.
"Members of the Philippine National Police, non-governmental organizations, and civic radio groups have already been deployed to major bus terminals, seaports, airports, and strategic Metro Rail Transit (MRT), Light Rail Transit (LRT), Philippine National Railways (PNR) stations," he said.
Chicano added that help desks with first aid kits and "libreng tawag" will also be set up in terminals, seaports, and airports that will assist incoming and outgoing passengers.
DoTC acting secretary Anneli Lontoc emphasized that transport safety and wellbeing is everyone's concern as she advised the public to be safety conscious during their trips. (PIA) [top]
