2 killed, 1 wounded in Lanao Sur shooting incident

Islamic City of Marawi (6 August) -- Two (2) persons were killed while another was wounded after gunmen attacked a passenger bus in Lanao del Sur yesterday, August 5.

According to Police Superintendent Cosanie M. Derogongan, officer-in-charge of the Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office (LSPPO), two (2) unidentified gunmen attacked the Rural Transit bus along the national highway in barangay Buntongan of Wao town around 4:30 in the morning.

Initial investigation conducted disclosed that the bus driver, Ronnie Poblacion, and bus conductor, Catsteven Nacorda, both suffered gunshot wounds in their heads causing their instantaneous death.

On the other hand the bus inspector, Margarito Egagamao, suffered three (3) gunshot wounds on his arm, thigh and head and was brought to Bukidnon Hospital for medical treatment.

The victims were all residents of Bukidnon.

Derogongan said the gunmen used Caliber.45 pistols based on the empty shells recovered in the crime scene.

He also said the bus earnings amounting to P4,640 was intact and recovered at the crime scene.

Derogongan further said an in-depth investigation is being conducted to determine the motive and identity of the suspects. (PIA Marawi) [top]
