As explained by the Aboitiz representative, the program called Community Social Responsibility (CSR) aims to assist the communities affected by the construction of the Magat Dam in areas where the people can be benefited to improve their lives and compensate for their dislocation.
This is aside from their fixed share from the utilization of the natural wealth and royalty taxes paid by the corporation operating the dam.
Participated by the barangays officials and residents, non-government organizations together with the municipal officials led by Mayor Ceasario Cabbigat Jr.,, Aboitiz gave a briefing on this program and encouraged the barangay people to submit a project proposal for them to finance.
He said that the program component of the CSR include those on livelihood, social infrastructure, health, education and watershed area protection maintenance and conservation.
Funding for these projects is unlimited depending on its justification in the project proposal and upon evaluation by the funding entity.
As the two barangays are not yet ready which project to propose, they were advised to decide and submit them as soon as possible and the Aboitiz Company is willing to give assistance in the technical aspect of making the project proposal.
Meanwhile, the barangay officials and the community of barangays Tupaya and Dulao decided to use their 2008 share in the national wealth tax from Aboitiz to purchase a dump truck which will serve as a multi-purpose vehicle for the two barangays.
Tupaya is due to receive P240,000 and P260,000 for Barangay Dulao
The dump truck can be used to transport people to important occasions, ferry the sick to hospitals, carry the dead to their homes and for sand and gravel for the maintenance and improvement of their roads.
