Hariraya Puasa celebrations set

General Santos City (10 October) -- The celebration commemorating the end of the Ramadan or the Hariraya Puasa (also known as Eid'l Fit'r) has been slated on Friday, October 12, 2007, this according to Rajahmuda Alimudin Hassan Al Haj of the Sugoda Buayan Royal House in General Santos City.

Mr. Hassan who is also the Executive Assistant of the City Mayor on Cultural Community Affairs revealed that in a meeting with Muslim religious and NGO leaders together with Muslim elders at the Office on Muslim Affairs (OMA) Headquarters, it was also agreed that the center of the celebrations will be at the Purok Maguindanao Learning Center Musalla, in Labangal.

In that same meeting, the following series of activities for the Hariraya Puasa were finalized: 6:30 AM - Assembly of the UMMAH at the Musalla; 7:20 AM - Congressional Prayer; 8:30 AM - Breakfast; 10:00 AM - Free Medical & Dental Clinics; Distribution of Charity Gifts to children, elderly and needy UMMAH.

Spearheading the celebrations will be the Sugoda Buayan Royal House in coordination with the Office on Cultural Community Affairs under the City Mayor's Office, OMA, Muslim NGO's such as SUBATAGEN, Maranao Cooperative, Federation of Madaris, and Task Force SALAM, together with the PNP and Joint Task Force Gensan.

Mr. Hasan is inviting everyone, Muslims and non-Muslims alike to join the Hariraya Puasa celebrations at the Purok Maguindanao Learning Center Musalla, saying, "We want people to know that here in Gensan, our festivities are meant for all, regardless of culture, religion and creed".
