Lanao Norte holds 16th livestock fair

Tubod, Lanao del Norte (29 July) -- The 16th Livestock Fair was held recently during the Agri-Aqua Fair which featured the Search for Best Artificial Insemination (A.I.) Offspring for Male and Female Cattle and Carabaos.
The fair was highlighted by the display of 30 head entries composed of 18 carabaos and 12 cattle from the municipalities of Tubod, Baroy, Lala and Kapatagan.
Governor Mohamad Khalid Q. Dimaporo and Lealyn A. Ramos, Regional Director, Department of Agriculture (DA)-Regional Field Unit (RFU) X formally opened the display area with the ribbon-cutting.
Afterwhich together with the guests, they toured and checked the beasts displayed and witnessed the carabao race.
Ireneo Gepullano from Kapatagan and Eduardo Moncada of Tubod won the Best in A.I. Offspring Male and Female Cattle respectively.
On the other hand, Artemio Cabalan of Lala and Elino Merontos of Baroy won the Best A.I. Offspring Male and Female Carabao accordingly.
For the carabao racing, Valeriano Dumaog from Kapatagan won the 1st prize, 2nd prize went to Gabino Cuarenta of Lala and the 3rd prize was grabbed by Petronila Lumpayao of Baroy.
Non-winning displays of cattle and carabao were given cash incentives of P1,000.
Arnold Perrada of Kolambugan and Cosain Sarip of Sultan Naga Dimaporo won the Milk Drinking Contest for the adult and kid category respectively.
Meanwhile, Ronnie Curay of Maigo beat all other contestants for the Egg Eating Contest.
The 16th Livestock Fair spearheaded by the Provincial Veterinary Office, depicted the many possibilities of raising cattle and carabao as an income generation vehicle and increased livelihood opportunity. (PIO/Lanao del Norte) [top]
