Manila (13 October) -- Two young Filipinos will be among those who will be awarded as winners in the ASEAN Drawing Competition and ASEAN Essay Writing Competition conducted in line with the ASEAN Disaster Management Day and International Day for Disaster Reduction.
Eleven years old Tristan F. Tizon of the Philippines is second placer in the ASEAN Drawing Competition on the theme "My City, My Future ? Making ASEAN Cities Safe from Disaster." (+)
RP attends ASEAN+China information meeting in Beijing
Manila (13 September) -- The Philippines will be represented in the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) Ministers Responsible for Information + China meeting on September 15 in Beijing.
In a radio interview over the weekend, Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Herminio Coloma said there is a regular meeting of the ASEAN Ministers Responsible for Information (AMRI) and he is a part of it. (+)
Environment secretary calls for more R&D projects in ASEAN forestry

Manila (August 4) -- Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Ramon J. P. Paje said that scientific endeavors, coupled by the region's collective entrepreneurial skills, should be top priority in improving Southeast Asia's forestry-based industry under the auspices of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as its forestry experts work harder to gain steady expansion into the world's wood market.
The pronouncement was made in a keynote speech read for him by DENR Undersecretary Demetrio Ignacio, at the "13th Meeting of ASEAN Senior Officials on Forestry" held in Makati City from July 26 to 31. (+)
RP proposes common visa for ASEAN countries
Manila (17 November) -- If all goes well according to plan, there will come a time when visitors to Southeast Asia may only need a single via to travel to all ASEAN member countries.
The Philippines would push for the adoption of common visa among citizens of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in a bid to boost investments, particularly in the tourism sector, in the region. (+)
Indonesia renews pledge supporting GRP, MILF peace process
Manila (8 October) -- The Indonesian government today reiterated its commitment supporting the ongoing peace process between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines (GRP) and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) to put an end to the armed conflict in southern Philippines.
In a press statement issued by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP), it said that Indonesian Ambassador to the Philippines Irzan Tandjung made the pledge during a testimonial ceremony at the launching of the Ambassador Manuel T. Yan's Peace Resource Center (AMTYPRC) at the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) in Pasig City. (+)
