EAGA ministers, senior officials meet in Kuching
Slated September 28 - October 1, this year's SOM/MM hosts a series of high-level meetings to be held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia.
The four-day activity will gather key officials and stakeholders from both the government and private sector in the different BIMP-EAGA member-countries and will tackle issues related to the subregional cooperation such as the progress of implemented flagship programs and projects as well as cooperation with development partners such as China and Japan. Efforts underway to beef up EAGA as "food basket" in ASEAN
Davao City (1 June) -- Key officials from the private sector and government of the Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) met recently to beef up efforts in making the sub-region the ASEAN's "food basket" during the 8th BIMP-EAGA Natural Resources Development (NRD) meeting in General Santos City last month.
Developing EAGA's potential as a regional food basket through innovative strategies and strengthened collaboration was a major directive during the 6th BIMP-EAGA Leaders Summit last December 2009. (+)

Benefits in arts seen
Davao City (28 January) -- With the Philippines being named as the cultural capital of the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) region for 2010 and 2011, this will usher in new opportunities for the country's culturescape.
Speaking at a media gathering held last January 27 in Davao City, National Commission for the Culture and the Arts (NCCA) Executive Director Cecile Guidote Alvarez, said that arts and culture particularly among the regions will be showcased not just in the country but also the ASEAN as well. (+)
RP, Indonesia ties mark 60th year
Manado, North Sulawesi, Indonesia (11 November) -- Sixty years after the diplomatic and economic relations between the Philippines and Indonesia was established in 1949, key players of the two neighboring countries have gathered here recently to celebrate the major gains of the Philippine-Indonesia bilateral ties.
On the occasion of the 60 Years Diplomatic Relations between Indonesia and Philippines held here last month, the continuing Philippine-Indonesia relations is viewed as a "catalyst" in the growth, stability and security of the Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-the Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA).
