iSchools projects initiates sustainability planning workshop series in Bicol

Legaspi City (20 October) -- The iSchools Project, which distributes PCs to Philippine high schools, will be conducting a series of workshops to help beneficiaries manage their computer laboratories for the long term.
The first in a series of Sustainability Planning Workshops (SPW) will be held starting October 20, 2010 at Legaspi City, allowing participants to run their respective school computer labs once these are turned over by the Commission on Information and Communications Technology. (+)
iSchools latest information management system assists in monitoring school laboratories

Quezon City (20 October) -- A project that puts up net-enabled computer labs in Philippine high schools will soon teach beneficiaries to use a web-based application that will measure usage of their computer equipment.
This was announced by the iSchools Project, subsumed under the Commission on Information and Communications Technology, after it held its Midstream Planning Workshop conducted in Olongapo City last month. (+)
iSchools MOA signing charts project's training phase

Quezon City, Philippines (23 September) -- With the upcoming nationwide deployment of ICT hardware to 320 recipient schools already on track, the Commission on Information and Communications Technology's iSchools Project is currently completing parallel preparations for the consequent training rollout phase.
With this, each State University and College (SUC) partner will be tasked to take on the responsibility to manage iSchools training modules for assigned public high schools in their locality. The modules include Web Development, Library Management, Laboratory Management and the Computer and Internet Literacy Course. (+)
iSchools sustainability planning workshop to be conducted in Baguio City

Baguio City (12) -- In continuing the iSchools Project's efforts to conduct training programs that will allow public high school teachers to be confident in using ICT in education, a Sustainability Planning Workshop (SPW) Training of Trainers will be conducted on August 12-15, 2010 at Brentwood Village, Brent Road, Baguio City. The Sustainability Planning Workshop will be hosted by Benguet State University.
Monitoring and Evaluation team leader Leila Grace Ramos said, "This training is part of the iSchools series of capacity building efforts to help the teachers appreciate the value of ICT in their school." (+)
Industry lauds appointment of cyber law expert as CICT Chairman
Manila (12 August) -- Information and communications technology (ICT) leaders have expressed appreciation to President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III for appointing a well-known and highly respected industry veteran, Atty. Ivan John Enrile Uy, as Chairman of the Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT).
Such move is seen as a signal that President Aquino is determined to leverage on ICT as part of his good governance agenda. (+)
