DTI business name registration now online
San Jose, Antique (29 July) -- Business name registration is now online.
The Department of Trade and Industry said that in order to fasttrack the processing of Business Names (BNs) registration, applicants can open the website of DTI (www.bnrs.dti.gov.ph/) to apply for business name registration. It can be easily accessed and time saving. All they have to do is go to internet cafÚs or else in the comfort of their homes. (+)
Bacolod-Negros ICT Federation marks ICT Month
Bacolod City (8 June) -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in Proclamation No. 1521 declared the month of June as the National Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Month last May 28, 2008.
This year, the BacolodľNegros Federation For Information and Communications Technology, (BNEFIT), Inc. chaired by Councilor Jocelle Batapa Sigue in celebration of the 2nd ICT Month, underscores the need to strengthen the English language skills of the human resource pool in the province. (+)
Palace to certify DICT creation as urgent
Manila (24 March) -- Malaca˝ang is set to certify as urgent the bill establishing the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) that will assume the communications-related powers and functions of the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) and other departments and agencies.
The Senate bill is sponsored by Senator Edgardo Angara who chairs the Senate Committee on Science and Technology. (+)
IT BPO sector expected to generate 80,000 jobs this year

Iloilo City (11 March) -- The IT industry, particularly the Business Process Outsourcing (IT-BPO) sector is expected to grow by 20 to 25 percent or generate 80,000 to 90,000 jobs this year.
The Malacanang press report disclosed that Chairman Ray Anthony Chua of the Commission on Information and Communication Technology (CICT) said during the 26th Cabinet Meeting that last year some 372,000 jobs and $6 billion revenue were generated by the industry. (+)
Bacolod lands top 5 in "10 next wave cities for ICT"
Bacolod City (13 February) -- Bacolod City comes next to Metro Manila, Cebu and Davao as Information Communication Technology (ICT) destination in the country.
The city was named as one of the top 5 among the 10 next-wave cities for such investment.
The citation was given after City Administrator Dr. Roger Balo gave a 10-minute presentation expounding the readiness of respective city for ICT investors during the Nine e-Services Global Sourcing Conference and Exhibition at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia, Pasay City recently. (+)
