Alfonso Lista issues guidelines on conduct of mobile checkpoints

ALFONSO LISTA, Ifugao, Jan. 2 (PIA) -- The Municipal Peace and Order (MPOC) in this municipality has issued guidelines in the conduct of mobile checkpoints to safeguard the basic rights of people affected.

Chief of Police Inspector Alex Kimayong said that the guidelines are in strict compliance to police manual of operation for the comfort and respect of motorists and travelers all times.

Kimayong disclosed that as stated in the guidelines, barangay tanods manning the check points must be in proper uniforms and identification cards visible to motorists and other people in the area.

“These barangay tanods on duty will be accompanied by the PNP, municipal and barangay elected officials to assist them in conducting checkpoints,” he added.

To ensure the smooth operation of the checkpoints, important data and observations during the operation must be recorded in the logbook and reported on a regular basis to the PNP and copy furnished the municipal mayor for information and appropriate action.

The MPOC executive committee and the barangay peace and order council (BPOC) would also conduct regular monitoring and evaluation on the operation of mobile checkpoints.

Kimayong explained that the setting-up of more mobile checkpoints in the different barangays was also approved through a resolution passed by the Municipal Peace and Order Council(MPOC)recently to strengthen the peace and order campaign of the municipality.

"These checkpoints will help a lot  in protecting the welfare of the people and ensure public safety to everyone and as a strategy in the campaign against insurgency, criminality and other unscrupulous people," Kimayong said.

He  told that Alfonso Lista is a fast growing municipality and the occurrence of theft on properties, robberies, hold-ups, and other crimes are attributed to the proliferation of unidentified motorists and vendors operating without legitimate permits.(JDP/MBL - PIA CAR,Ifugao)
