LTO,PNP reiterates warning to Lagawe driversby Vency D. Bulayungan
LAGAWE, Ifugao, Jan 3 (PIA) -- Concerned government agencies here reiterated their warnings to drivers amidst the increase of vehicular accidents noted in the past days.
Police noted at least 25 vehicular accidents in the province during the Christmas and New year celebrations.
Erick Kimayong, Chief of the Land Transportation Office and Lagawe Chief of Police PSI Aquino Bayangan, shared pieces of advice to drivers over the daily program Humangan with PIA.
Bayangan said one of the major causes of the accidents is drunkenness thus he cautioned drivers not to drink intoxicating drinks and drive for their own safety and their passengers.
Kimayong advised that should the driver cannot avoid drinking intoxicating drinks during occasions, he should tag along a spare driver who will not drink liquor.
He further said that operators and drivers of public utility vehicles and owners of private vehicles should always check their vehicles before using them to minimize possible mechanical defects along the way.
Meanwhile, Kimayong reported that for the year 2011, there were numerous violations of drivers ranging from reckless driving to unregistered motorcycles.
‘We were able to collect more than P1 million this year and landed second to Baguio City in terms of collection of penalties,” Kimayong said. (JDP/VDB-PIA CAR, Ifugao)
