Tabuk City’s business one-stop service center opens

by Larry Lopez

TABUK, Kalinga, Jan. 3(PIA) -- Seeing there would be high influx of applicants for business licenses and permits in the first office hour of the year, the business one-stop service center here opened early for transactions.

Noryn Bagano of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) provincial office said the center holds office at the established National Economic Research and Business Assistance Center (NERBAC) at the Tabuk City hall.

Providing convenience to applicants, government agencies involved in processing and issuance of business licenses and permits hold a service desk at the center.

The establishment of the NERBAC in the city supports the call of President Benigno S. Aquino III to cut the processing time in the issuance of business licenses and permits, Bagano said. This is also in line with efforts to eradicate red tape in government transactions as contained in Republic Act 9485 or the Anti-Red Tape Act.

To assure that turn-around time for applicants would be easy, the center follows the “streamlined business permit and licensing system (SBPLS), a national program being advocated to cut business processing time.

Since the SBPLS was started In Tabuk, applicants have a turn-around time of one hour from the time they file their applications for business license and permit to the time of issuance, compared to the national turn-around standard time of five days.

“Turn-around” time is the standard period set to measure how efficient is the processing of business permits by government agencies.

Prior to the establishment of the NERBAC, processing of business permits usually takes 15 days before the issuance.

The center has also eradicated the inconvenience of applicants from going around the offices securing signatures and other requirements.(JDP/LL- PIA CAR,Kalinga)
