Lagawe mayor calls on public to cooperate with gov't for developmentby Vency D. Bulayungan
LAGAWE, Ifugao, Jan. 4 (PIA) –- The mayor of this town appealed to his constituents for their cooperation with the government to attain development.
Mayor Ceasario Cabbigat in his new year’s message aired in the daily program “Humangan with PIA”, called on his constituents to follow national laws and local ordinances and support government programs, projects and activities for the benefit of the municipality and the province as a whole.
He said that keeping the environment clean is a simple way of supporting the local government unit’s clean and green program and in the end will keep family members away from sickness such as dengue and other kinds of diseases attributed to a dirty environment.
“We should know how to segregate our wastes at home and not just throw anywhere else such as along the roads and riverbanks,” Cabbigat said adding that they can make money out of their waste like selling non-biodegradable wastes such as plastic containers, tin cans and use the biodegradable wastes into fertilizers.
Along this program, he reminded the public of a municipal ordinance on no spitting of betel nut anywhere. “We have to strictly enforce this ordinance since I observed that some are still violating this and this will be imposed to everybody including non-Lagaweans who enter the town,” he reiterated.
Aside from this, he also advised the public to follow traffic rules and regulations like using the pedestrian lanes when crossing especially so that this is the capital town where there are many vehicles plying the national road and accidents may happen anytime thus the safety of the people is very important so the municipal government implemented the pedestrian lanes, hired employees and tapped the assistance of the police to manage traffic.
He also called on the jeepney, bus and tricycle drivers and operators to obey parking rules of the LGU. “We need your cooperation and support for our town to move forward as we welcome another year,” Cabbigat said. (JDP/VDB- PIA CAR, Ifugao)
